A Poetic Whim

'Lo all,
I felt like writing a poem. It might be all nonsense to you or you might make something of it.... Anyway, do comment your interpretation down below if you so desire.

Away, over the salty sea, tears mingling with the blue.
Dreaming  about the things that she will never do.
Next comes the golden afternoon, so beautiful, so fair.
Breezes playing  on the wind and throwing leaves in her hair.
She meets companions along the road, fellows on her journey.
You may have met her, I am sure, I know she met me.

The companions laugh, they  cry, they dance in the rain.
Glorying in the joys, sorrowing in the pain.
Some are lost to death's dark shadow, some change as life wears on.
Some are left to sing with you, life's ever-changing song.

When the time comes for her to depart.
Hopefully a joy  is in your heart.
You leave this land, and travel away.
We will see eachother another day.

  1. I love some of the imagery in here! :) I think it means we will meet lots of friends on life's journey, and they will be with us through thick and thin. But eventually they will all die and be nothing more than forgotten names on a newspaper's obituary trampled into the sewers on a rainy day. And yet still a nameless ghost will be with us.....a figure never to stop haunting us, be that good or bad....and maybe we will meet our friends again, at the end of all things....
Idk about that last part though. I feel like my interpretation mainly applies to the second stanza. *shrugs*
Do post more of your writing, dear, I quite enjoy it! :)

  2. To me, this poem seemed to talk about friendships. At first, the girl is regretting time lost with a friend, who either died, or they had to part ways over an argument. Then, she makes new friends along the way of life. She shares in their joys and sorrows. Some eventually part ways, some die. The girl has the hope that she will see her friends in Heaven. Nice poem.

    1. Interesting interpretation Morgan! If you dears would like I'd be glad to share my personal meaning for the poem, but you actually guessed the Heaven part right. : )

    2. Oh, yes, do so! I'd love to hear. :) It's always interesting to compare the interpretations of readers to the intent of the author.
