Aidalin's Lullaby

She walked on billowy clouds of thought
breathing in the cool sharp air
reality she forever fought
With a face so ever fair
Aidalin! Aidalin! Lift up thine eyes,
for you'll be in dreamland, until sunrise.

O'er oceans blue and forests green
she traveled on and on
Many a queer and new thing was seen
Sung always a joyful song
Aidalin! Aidalin! Lift up thine eyes
for you'll be in dreamland, until sunrise.

The journey now comes to a close
Aidalin travels home
What she saw there, nobody truly knows
Through ethereal dreams did she roam.
Aidalin! Aidalin! Come now, and wake.
When night does come again, again, a new road you will take.

One of my biggest writing inspirations is J.R.R. Tolkien, who is famous for putting in songs, ballads, and poems into his works as a creative way to show the lore of Middle Earth. I created this lullaby as an "extra" to a story I am currently writing.

P.S. I wrote this last Summer and never posted it! That's what comes of having an overabundance of drafts.
